WELCOME TO SINGAPORE

Located in the heart of Asia, Singapore is easily accessible to over 4 billion people within a 7-hour flight radius, making the city state an ideal location for the 21st IUFoST World Congress to reach more delegates from around the region.

Changi Airport, celebrated as one of the World’s Best Airports, serves more than 100 international and regional airlines, spanning full-service carriers to low-cost carriers, connecting us to over 500 cities globally.

Ranked amongst the safest cities in the world, with one of the lowest crime rates, Singapore offers peace and mind to all visiting delegates in the world’s most business-friendly country.

Our city-state is a multicultural melting pot comprising native Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian ethnic groups, backed by a strong expatriate community that makes Singapore truly international.  Likewise, Singapore also offers myriad cultural and gastronomical experiences, including many Michelin starred restaurants!

Singapore has also earned the reputation of being one of the world’s best destinations for business events, including the Top Convention City in Asia (16 consecutive years, ICCA), as well as the Top International Meeting City in Asia in 2016. These awards and accolades reflect the meetings infrastructure in Singapore, which is unparalleled in Asia.

Singapore remains affordable to visit, with a wide range of accommodation options across 420 hotels offering more than 67,000 rooms.

Notably, the Singapore Government launched the Industry Transformation Map (ITM) for the Food Manufacturing sector in 2016. The four key focus areas of the ITM are to:

(i) Grow Food companies in Singapore strategically to be globally Competitive;

(ii) Accelerate the Development and Commercialisation of Food products through Innovation;

(iii) Redesign the existing workflow and scaling business operations through automation; and

(iv) Upskill the Food Industry Workforce.

It is timely for SIFST and Singapore to host the 21st IUFoST World Congress in 2022 to address the development of these areas with our international counterparts.

Singapore has also developed and put in place several world-class shared facilities for R&D (Food Innovation & Resource Centre), Food Safety, Pilot Trial Production (Senoko Food Hub) for food companies in Singapore and the region. The World Congress will include visit to such facilities.
