THE ORGANIZERS


IUFoST 

The International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), a country-membership organisation, is the global voice of Food Science and Technology. It is the sole representative for the Food Science and Technology discipline that is elected into the International Science Council (ISC) by its interdisciplinary peers. It is a voluntary, non-profit federation of national Food Science organisations that links the world’s Food Scientists and Technologists.

IUFoST promotes the advancement of global Food Science and Technology through education programmes, leadership opportunities, grants for young scientists, industry innovation initiatives, hosted workshopsand regional symposia. International engagement with other global bodies is carried out through the International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST).

IUFoST fosters the worldwide exchange of scientific knowledge and ideas through the biennial World Congress, IAFoST, books, proceedings, scientific journals, online journals, regular Scientific Information Bulletins, monthly News Briefs, newsletters, and social media engagement.

IUFoST aims to strengthen Food Science and Technology’s role in securing the world’s food supply, eliminating world hunger by delivering programmes, such as distance assisting training, workshops, and integrated food systems targeted to meet those needs.



SISFT SIFST

The Singapore Institute of Food Science & Technology (SIFST) was founded in 1977 as a non-profit scientific society with members working in Food Science, Food Technology, as well as related professions in industry, academia, and government. The Institute was registered as a Professional Society by the Singapore Registrar of Societies in May 1977. While it started with only 40 members, it currently has over 300 Fellows (Fellows), Associates, Licentiates, Graduate members, Student members and Corporate members.

The Institute became a member of the Singapore Professional Centre in 1979 and was awarded membership of the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST) in 1980. The Institute became an affiliate organisation of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) of the USA in 1989 and is a member of the Federation of Institutes of Food Science and Technology in ASEAN (FIFSTA).

Representatives of the Institute sit on the Enterprise Singapore Food Standards Committee, Singapore Accreditation Council, Accreditation Scheme for HACCP/ISO22000 and the Food Advisory Committee of the Agri-Veterinary Authority of Singapore. SIFST also has representation on several national and international Food related technical committees and working groups.

The Institute is committed to the development of Food Science and Technology through lifelong learning and collaboration amongst professionals, locally and worldwide, based on the following objectives:

  • Promote the standing of the Food profession and to maintain high ethical standards throughout.
  • Develop and maintain collaboration with other National and International bodies concerned with Food Science and Technology.
  • Promote the dissemination of knowledge and to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas amongst members.
  • Further the education and training of Food scientists and Technologists.
